View Full Version : Cron

I had cron running every hour, worked like a charm , and then stopped checking. Is there a way to reset cron, or just disable, and enable to reset. Is it possible that a thread is locking the checker up.
How would you check if this was the case. I assume it checks in order of forum that was selected.
We have the full version, I like the new features.
Also the checker seems to be just returning this, mostly rapidshare links: Criteria doesn't met any matches for this post.

Hello Scoop,
You've to limit posts checked per batch, it's recommended to do so with the current release as if you didn't & you've big board with large number of posts containing huge number of links to be checked then the bot may face some problems.
The current release originally can't handle large scale scanning & checking at once, that's why it may fail by having "Allowed memory exhausted" or "MySQL gone away" errors if forced to go over it's limits.
The current release also do punishment actions, and other updates on checked posts after finishing the whole batch it has in hands, so that if it fails in the middle, it will not recognize that those specific posts has been checked previously & also will not apply any actions upon.
All of these issues are to be fixed by upcoming featured release as we're working on changing the whole checking process & routines used by the bot, so it can be able to handle large scale scanning & checking at once without any problems.
At the mean time, please make sure to limit posts checked per batch as low as the bot can handle, this depends on your host & your server's specifications. Try various limits till you reach the best for it.
As I said, this is just a temporary solution, but should be active.
The real solution will be introduced in upcoming featured release which will solve these issues from roots.
Regarding rapidshare links it should work fine without any problems, please make sure you're using latest stable release 4.0.131 & make sure that your product's settings setup correctly specially checked hosts/checked bbcodes/excluded thread & post modes.
Please if you've any other questions or need any help, don't hesitate to ask.
Best Regards

We seem to be having trouble getting cron to run. Hasn't in a while, we are now running manual. Is there a bug in cron, or what would you check.
Thanks

Hello scoop,
Sorry, but I don't understand your problem.
There isn't a clear description of the problem or how to evaluate or analyze it ..
By the way, if you were using the 'Lite' edition before upgrading to the 'Ultimate' edition, then please uninstall the 'Lite' edition completely first then cleanly install the 'Ultimate' edition & configure your settings carefully (take care to limit checked posts per batch) & see what happens.
If you still have issues, please post it in a new thread & try to describe it in details so we can help.
.. Moved to closed issues ..
Best Regards
